OS error 5 when doing an automatic repair

I was doing an automatic repair prior to doing an end of year in our practice company and the program came up with an error message, OS 5. What does that mean?

Was the GL open somewhere on your network in the practice company? If not, try rebooting your server and doing the repair again. OS error 5/access denied means that a program somewhere on the network has one of the GL files open in "non share" mode, which means the file can't be opened by another application.

For example, you would experience an error such as this if you had opened a file in Excel and then tried to access it using CAPITAL, as Excel opens its data files in 'exclusive' (non shared) mode.
