using version 7.3 in stock control product description I have product descriptions which are typed in as one line. As soon as it is saved the line is now split into two automaitcally. Is there a way of disabling this? Descriptions can be upto 60 characters or so.

No, because this behaviour is intentional and beneficial. All CAPITAL reports, and almost all forms in CAPITAL, format to 40 character spaced lines. Lines over 40 characters should be split automatically to provide feedback to the user on how the description will appear in forms, reports, etc.
