What is the best way to prevent an assembly from being created when stock is not available - when someone is selecting stock to add in the Materials/Stock tab in Assembly.

The operator of the system will be warned if the stock is not available when an attempt is made to build the assembly. However, users may ignore the warning message and go into negative stock if they wish. The only way to prevent this is to disallow negative stock (via customisation, stock settings). However, changing this setting has ramifications throughout the system, not just the Assembly Manager.
