Capital speed diference between ver 7.6 and ver 8

Has any body found that ver 8 is a lot slower to run on there networks then 7.6 ?
    Especially using Service manager.

File server is a duel duel core 3 gig Zeon running on 8 gig of ram and windows 2008 64 bit OS approx 10 users, speed is not an issue using ver 7.6.

Speed differences and problems do arise from time to time for a variety of different reasons. V8 should take longer to load across a network (10-20 seconds) as it is larger than the earlier software. Overall, though, V8 should run more efficiently on a network once started, up to double the speed of the older software. This is because it utilises later API's and makes better use of available memory.

Regarding particular instances of performance problems, the specific cause will tend to vary on a case by case basis. In a situation reported to us last week the IT expert was able to resolve the speed problem for a particular machine on his network by installing updated network driver software from the manufacturer's website.

    Our suggested checklist:

    * Update drivers directly from the manufacturer's website (do not rely on Microsoft Window's Update Driver check.)

    * Disable driver power save features

    * Test that router is working correctly by copying a large file (i.e., 1000MB) in both directions across the network. Speed should be approximately the same regardless of the direction.

    * Ensure that the server is set to manage its own disk page size and has sufficient memory.

    * Ensure that the server has plenty of spare room on its C drive.

    * Ensure that only ONE anti-virus package is installed on the client PC.

    * Test performance by booting PC in safe mode with networking. If there is a noticeable difference review which applications are being automatically launched in the background.

    * Ensure that all OS updates have been applied to the client PC.

    * Its been our experience that slower and older Celeron type client PC's may perform poorly on a network if they are running Windows 7. We are not aware of any solution there other than retiring the machine.
