I went into the install program and under sales orders and ticked the parameter 'force back order allocations'. I then went back to my sales order and saved it again. But the order did not automatically allocate. What else do I need to do?

From within your sales order select from the menu Customise|Column Options|Complete Column List.

Tick the column 'Allocated Stock' and press OK

This will show you what is being allocated when you re-save an old sales order. The Force Back Order Allocation setting affects new sales order. Change the quantity under this column to affect old back orders, or allocate the quantities you want through the Back Order Control Centre for existing orders.
