    Operating System Compatibility

    Obsolete:
CAPITAL Office Series 7 will run on:

    *Windows XP Home
    *Windows XP Professional
    *Windows Vista (all editions)
    *Windows 7
    *Windows Server 2003
*Windows Server 2008 (32-bit Edition only)
    *Windows Terminal Services
    *Windows Citrix Metaframe

    operating systems and environments.

CAPITAL Office Series 7 does not support 64-bit versions of Windows.
There is limited compatibility support for Series 7 with Vista, Windows 7 and Server 2008.

CAPITAL Office V8 will run on:

    *Windows Vista (all editions)
    *Windows 7 (all editions)
    *Windows Server 2003
    *Windows Server 2008
    *Windows Server 2012
    *Windows Server 2016
    *Windows Terminal Services
    *Windows Citrix Metaframe
    *Windows 8 & 8.1
    *Windows 10

    operating systems and environments.

CAPITAL Office V8 applications support 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.

There are no minimum memory or service pack requirements. There is no need to install special software. However, performance will be improved if more memory is made available, especially to the server.

    Install Once On Your Server

Install CAPITAL Office on a single server computer. Do not install individual copies on local hard disk drives as this only complicates the upgrade and update process.

Install CAPITAL Office on a mapped network drive. The mapped drive letter should be consistent across all machines accessing the server. For example, if drive "R" is the mapped network drive, then all machines on the network should address the same location pointed to by R. This is important in situations where externals file (such as pictures, reports, etc.) are referenced from within the software. If drive R refers to different locations on the network for different machines, then CAPITAL may be unable to locate required files on some machines.

If you intend to share only the folder containing CAPITAL, ensure that CAPITAL is placed within another folder. For example: on the server place it in C:\CAPSERVE\CAPITAL and then share the C:\CAPSERVE folder, not the C:\CAPSERVE\CAPITAL folder. This is because CAPITAL always assumes it is running from within a folder. CAPITAL cannot execute from a root directory.

Machines accessing the shared mapped drive must have full read/write/create/delete access to that drive.

    Setup of Client Machines

Once CAPITAL Office is installed on the Server, run the program SETUPCLIENT.EXE found in the \CAPITAL folder, to establish short-cuts and path information on each machine accessing the server.

When launching CAPITAL Office, always launch the application from within the server folder. Do not attempt to launch the application without pointing your short-cuts to the folder containing CAPITAL. Doing otherwise may generate log in/registration error messages. If the SETUPCLIENT.EXE application is used to create paths and short-cuts, this issue will be handled automatically.

Client machines should have full read/write/create/delete file access to their local profile folder. This may be found under C:\documents & Settings\Name_of_User under Windows Server 2003, or for a typical XP machine the Windows system folder.

If this is not possible for security reasons please contact CAPITAL Office Business Software Tech Support for further configuration instructions.
