Ability to Resize finder window

The ablity to resize the finder window by draging the corner or CBS(prefered method)
Many of our lookups require many feilds ( up to 16 in one instance) to be included to allow the user to select the correct item. Some feilds are required to be 30/40 characters or larger and in the case of a mult-branch option repeated 5 times. The small finder window is being found to be limiting in this respect.
The ablilty to re-sort the display is a welcome option, but it still involves several clicks to move left or right, and then you can end up forgetting what item you are looking at. On this point is it possible to apply a global option for re-sorted displays ?
