Brother HL-7050

We use a Brother HL-7050 to print documents and reports. The printer works without error for all applications other than Capital.
For Capital, the output of various forms and reports is often missing the first character in any line of text. (sample attached)
In cases where we print user generated forms, we can manipulate the data on the form (by moving it slightly to the left or right) to fix the problem through trial and error.
For system reports, we are not able to make the required changes.
Are you aware of any issues with Brother printers?

Some of the major applications such as Word and Excel, render in memory an image of the page to print, and then sends a copy of the image to the printer. This way, the printer only has to place a dot in the right place for the image rendering to work correctly.

Applications such as ours, send instructions to the printer driver, such as 'print text at this position, in this font at this size'. Or 'draw box at this position of these dimensions.'

Most of the time you should end up with the same result. But if the driver is faulty, you may not get the results that you expect. In this case your options would include -

1. Seeing if a later version of the driver is available. Best to go directly to the manufacturer's website.

2. Confirm that the driver model number exactly matches the physical model number of the printer.

3. If (1) and (2) don't offer any relief, then the only other option is to see if there is a different Brother driver available that might still work.

Most of the time, if there is a problem with a driver, it usually takes the form of something less obvious, such as an error message from Windows or the application software crashing. It's somewhat rarer that the printing does not render as expected.

Of course, there could be some other more obscure problem with printing in your environment. But if you're confident that printing from, say, Excel, is always 100% perfect, but printing from CAPITAL has a problem, then my main suspicion would be the driver itself.

Also a bing search on the missing character problem and the Brother website suggests a possible solution here:
