    CAPITAL can't find CTRLSYS.DBF ?

    by Paul » Fri Aug 18, 2006 7:04 pm

I have 3 computers that access and open my Capital database fine. Then another 3 computers that report a 1001 error and crash on start-up.

What does the 1001 error mean?
Any ideas on what where to look to resolve this?

1001 basically means that CAPITAL cannot 'see' the file.

First check that your path settings are correct and that your computer is correctly mapped to your server. This information is held in the [Environment] section of CAPWIN.INI by default. This file will normally be found in your \Windows system folder or your user's profile folder.

Assuming that all the basics are OK, log in as an administrator on the computers where you are getting the 1001 error. Does CAPITAL now start OK?

If so, review your security settings, access control and your file attribute settings on your CAPITAL application and database files.
